Malas for Tatas
OUR MISSION AND APPROACH
Malas for Tatas is dedicated to helping women with breast cancer afford alternative, holistic health care to supplement cancer treatment.
Malas for Tatas was Co-Founded by sisters Erin LeBel and Shannon Briese. In early 2018, Erin was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shannon felt compelled to support her, and being a wellness professional, she knew the impact holistic treatments could have in easing Erin’s discomfort and the symptoms of chemotherapy. However, she also knew that these treatments were not covered by Erin’s health insurance, and that Erin would be unlikely to splurge on them for herself.

Shannon started making prayer malas and selling them to raise money for Erin’s treatment. Her community responded immediately, and after a few months Shannon was able to fund reiki therapy, acupuncture, and nutrition consultation for her sister.

Feeling it was time to pay it forward to someone else, the sisters asked their network to nominate a second recipient: another woman with breast cancer who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford alternative health care treatments.

Malas for Tatas aims to support two women a year, providing them funds for 6 months of self-care or $2,000, whichever comes first. One-hundred percent of the profits from each mala sold go directly toward our current recipient, contributing to her well-being and recovery. We are a Colorado based 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Denver Metro community.

LETTING EVERY TEENAGER KNOW:
#YOUMATTER #YOUBELONG
Our mission is to destigmatize mental health issues by creating community and sharing the message, “YOU MATTER, YOU BELONG”, especially among our peers. We must remain diligent in our campaign: depression, anxiety, and suicide are major issues for our friends – Colorado ranks sixth in the nation for most teen deaths by suicide. Too many of our peers face a daily struggle to talk about their mental health – we crusade to end the stigma and increase positive options for those facing mental health issues.
We want to grow community by caring, listening, and valuing each individual.

Living in poverty and homelessness is not only stressful but can result in feelings of fear, hopelessness, and prioritization of daily survival over long-term planning. Warren Village’s goal is to help low-income, single-parent families make the journey from poverty to self-sufficiency.

Utilizing a nationally acclaimed, Two-Generation (2Gen) approach, Warren Village empowers disadvantaged single parents to regain self-esteem, reconnect to the community, and ultimately reclaim a productive place in the community.

ABOUT DenverKidsinc

OUR MISSION
At Denver Kids, we create career and college pathways for at-potential students open to growth and guidance by providing multi-level support to students, their families, and the school community.

We are on a mission to make high school graduation possible for Denver Public Schools students facing adversity. Through strong, supportive relationships, we position young people for success both in and out of the classroom. It’s been the heart of our mission and the springboard to the strong outcomes we’ve achieved since our founding in 1946.

For students challenged by poverty, outside factors often create roadblocks to their success. Once a student falls behind and loses their footing—whether that’s in elementary, middle, or high school—it’s challenging to catch up. This is where Denver Kids intervenes and plays a transformative role. Our professional Educational Counselors work one-to-one with 1,150 K-12th-grade students in nearly 160 Denver Public Schools to keep them engaged, in school, and on track to graduation.

Our approach to positive youth outcomes is rooted in: relationships, real-time data that allows for real-time interventions, and social, emotional, and academic learning.
